Musician, producer and composer, Mikey Dorje loves music. This multi-talented artist has developed a career in music incorporating everything from live electronic performances, live acoustic performances, studio work producing music for himself and other artists, producing music for film, television and much more.

Born in Boulder, Colorado , Mikey Halpern was given the middle name Dorje (pronounced "door-jay"), a Tibetan term meaning "Thunderbolt", by renowned Buddhist teacher Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Dorje continues to study Buddhism today. As a young child, Dorje's interest in music was apparent as he would record made up songs and melodies with a cheap tape recorder, his voice, cheep children's keyboards and what ever else made a sound. He moved to Kyoto, Japan with his family at the age of nine and began playing guitar soon afterward. At the age of fourteen he moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia where he studied music at The Royal Canadian Conservatory of Music, formed his first band and started performing live and producing music on a 4-track. By the age of seventeen Dorje was playing mini tours across eastern Canada and had upgraded to a high-end 8-track and was producing demos for many local artists, contributing directly to record deals and other achievements. Soon he would be co-producing and performing on albums in major label standard studios with people such as Laurence Currie (Producer - Sloan) and eventually building his own studio, Prince of Thieves Studios in Toronto, where he resides currently.

In Toronto Dorje has written and produced music for various record labels and has had his music licensed by major companies such as Molson Canada Ltd., CBC Television, Computer Music Magazine and award winning independent films. He has performed live headlining shows across Ontario, New York and Montreal and has worked in the studio or performed live with artists such as Darren Shearer (Drums - The New Deal), Tara Slone (Vocals - Joydrop), Bryden Baird (Trumpet - Esthero), Michal The Girl (Vocals - ATB), Dave Williams (Keys - k-os), Angel Alanis and Belladonnakillz to name a few. As well, Dorje has produced the official ringtones for artists such as Madonna, Sting and 311 for their official websites.

Dorje's diverse background allows him to push the boundaries of traditional genres of music as he mixes together breakbeat, house, funk, drum n bass, hip-hop, pop, rock, classical and everything in between; All seamlessly tweaked and twisted into a groove that you can't help but get into and get to!
