Hey ya’ll! It’s me Cid-X again and welcome to my showcase on The EDM Spectrum. It has been a dream for me to work with music. However it was a dream I was never too sure about when I was younger because I originally wanted to be a video game designer but computer programming and engineering scared me in college. At least the math and not so interesting long classes did. I am now an entrepreneurship major in Temple University in the Fox School of Business.
Therefore my knowledge of music is scattered but that is something that with time I can work on. I did some drums back in 4th grade and choir until 6th grade. When I have nothing to do at home, I like to pound on objects and try to make some beats and practice my rhythm. There was a cookie can in my basement which was left completely amorphous as result of my experimentation. When it gets too quiet, I like to do some beatboxing. I can only appreciate quiet in certain conditions, otherwise I feel as if I am going to go crazy.
...
It wasn’t until the past two years when I finally realized that music is my passion and something I want to pursue as a career and not just a hobby. And in the world of music, as you may already know – because you’re here in The EDM Spectrum after all 8) – my favorite music is Electronic Dance Music. It is a very massive genre indeed and one thing that pisses me off a lot is how most people show utter disregard to it by calling it all "techno" and other stereotypes I don’t want to mention here and that you may already know. My most favorite genres within EDM are trance, techno, breakbeat, hardcore, and industrial. I like some house and downtempo as well.
Recently in Temple University, a new computer lab opened up called the TECH Center and it is huge. Let me skip all the details and point out that there is a music lab and at first I thought it was reserved for music majors. My friend Max Marguilies encouraged me to try out the music lab and in as little as a week, I got hooked into making music. OK, that’s where I am at now. I didn’t start off like that at first. It just wasn’t going the way I wanted it because I was just starting off (and I’m still in the starting up phase by the way). I use a program called GarageBand on a Mac. I’m so glad that I have knowledge of both PC and Mac.
As I learned more about GarageBand, I was able to get my tracks to sound better. Then it came to me that I should learn to use ReBirth now that I know exactly what it is because I had this program four years ago on my computer and I had the slightest clue what it was. I learned it pretty quickly now and then I sampled my own patterns that I put together myself (because I am no fan of using presets) via a sound recording program called iSound and cleaned up the samples on Nero Wave Editor to be as loop friendly as possible. These four programs and the music lab in the TECH Center is my current setup although that’s about to change now that I have recently acquired a Novation Remote 25 USB MIDI Controller/Keyboard. I’m so happy!
I also have more people to thank for helping me along the way with starting up. Massive shout outs to Thomas, Kendo, Kale, David, and DJ King for their guidance in my beginning phases, to Joel and Ashley, my two best friends who have taken an idea and have made it into such a great and constantly growing community, and to all those people who like what I have shown them so far. I have never been so eager to learn and enjoy all this hands-on work like this before. Indeed this is a new dream for me. There is no other feeling of joy for me like sitting back and making music. I now perfectly understand how music is a discipline that requires great attention to detail.
I’d like to point out that I am a Virgo and for us, attention to detail and perfectionism is inherently natural. My ascendant is Sagittarius which explains my bluntness, integrity, and energy I have and want to share with you all. My Moon is in Scorpio because I take everything to the extreme; there is no happy medium.
I have embarked on a journey, a journey I originally thought I was going to start 2 years from now. Why wait? Carpe Diem! Soon I shall also learn the art of DJing. As Thomas told me, "DJing and production compliments each other." Be on the lookout for more by me in the future. Since I love EDM so much and the many styles in it, I will also work with other sub-genres as well under different pseudonyms in the future. Cid-X is just my primary. If there is anything I anticipate more than just making music, it is the hope that I will collaborate with other artists as well especially those artists featured here on The EDM Spectrum.
As for my friend Max M. and the group of film majors I hang out with, they would like to use my music in their films in the future. I just can’t wait to see what the future holds for me. It’s only a matter of time. For now, just sit back and enjoy the music and critique my progress if you’d like.

I shall go back to my own production next week and wrap it up. It's been 2 (almost 3) months in the making for me. Had too many computer problems, a remix to compete in, another I'm gonna start up next week as well. LOL! I'll check your track out D'Jinn.
