VA's Finest DnB and Breaks Presents:
...
Suicide King
Antonio King Marrero III aka Dj Suicide King got into the scene some years back when a good friend kept attempting to introduce different house and trance cd's and a fairytale of a special party scene known mainly as the "rave".
Listening to cd after cd he became intrigued by the sounds, the beats, and the rythm. Shortly after his birthday his friends decided to kidnapp him and take him to a club. Nation. Little did he know that shortly after walking into the front doors his life would take a completely different course. After hearing Plasticman do his thing Tony was hooked. He had found a place in which he finally belonged. A culture unlike anything else.
Early influences in house and hard house pushed Tony further into the underground. Sounds of Dj Irene, Feelgood, Scott Henry, and a personal favorite at the time Donald Glaude and Bad Boy Bill. That was when he discovered more about drum and bass. Something about it drew him to the speaker boxes night after night until it was the only place he wanted to be. Listening to Ak1200, Dieselboy, John B, and others gave him the energy and power he needed to let his soul go.
Soon Tony got his 1st set of Tech 1200's and a box of DnB records and went to work. Throwing parties in basements, fields, and even kid's themeparks started a passion for being the man resposible for everyone's emotions from behind a dj booth and a set of turntables. Self teaching himself for years, it seemed as though it was going to be a long struggle for perfection, trying to build skill in cutting and looping. One day he met a member of Va's Finest who happened to have the same name. Making other connections at his parties with other members of Va's Finest it wasnt long before he started making friends, and learning. Tony learned what it was about to be a dj, to put records on for people's emotions and mixing them together to push people even further into your own world. Spinning as a member of Va's Finest DnB and Breaks has givin him the knowledge and skills to become an ever growing dj, a better person, a better dj, a powerful dj, a king....a Suicide King. Respect to my boys of Va's Finest (D.T.L./Overload/L-Diggz/Killjoy/and Cardiac Arrest). My family. Suicide King Out!

Cardiac Arrest
Cardiac Arrest (Jeff Chartos) first discovered jungle / drum 'n' bass music in the mid 90's at the age of 16. After hearing an old Dj Hype mix tape from a high school friend he was immediately hooked. Later that year he purchased his first pair of turntables and began his quest to become a drum 'n' bass dj. At the time his only learning influence was to watch the "Velocity" drum 'n' bass show on the Pesudo online network hosted by Dj Dara and Sean the Shooter of Breakbeat science, NYC. He was then introduced to DJ Slant of the 2tuff crew in D.C by Slant's cousin Kitt. This meeting gave Cardiac Arrest a good opportunity to watch and learn from one of DC's best drum 'n' bass Djs. After four years of dedicated practice Cardiac Arrest began spinning out at numerous house parties and small bar clubs in Virginia, D.C, Maryland, West Virginia, Pittsburg, and Ohio. Now after almost ten years of drum 'n' bass excellence he plans to journey further in his dnb quest as part of VA's Finest Drum and Bass and beaks Crew.
Killjoy
My name is Frank Garcia (aka Killjoy) I have been spinning for about 7 years. I got into
spinning cause I loved drum and bass ever since I first heard it. I started spinning
at house parties when I was about 18, and spun at my first club in Sterling, called Basin
St. When I was 19 I went to Tampa, Florida to broaden my horizons. Spun all over there
and met some cool ass people. When I moved back to Virginia, after going to Sonar in Baltimore
and meeting some people, I was offered to spin at an after party, so I spun there every
weekend for almost a year and now I keep getting told that I have too much skill to let go
to waste. I started producing my own drum and bass last year and have gotten pretty good,
or so I am told. Now I am looking to get signed for spinning or producing. I've been spinnin
with D.T.L. for about 4 years now and been apart of VA's Finest since the beginning.

Overload
I went to my first 'Rave' around 1995, with a friend of mine that had been going since the dawn of the scene in America . After already hearing mix tapes by producers like "The Shamen" and DJs like Terry Mullin's , DJ Kell, and Troll and Mogli of The C.B.S I was already aware of 'electronic music' and was in love with something called 'jungle'. The rave was held at an old funeral home (of all places) and in the middle of the worst part of town! Upon entering the party I was shocked by the sheer volume of the music and all the people dancing. I had never seen a live techno DJ or known anything about them, so I asked my friend if they would play my DJ Mogli tape. (TAPE? I later learned the error in that request... the DJs used records and turntables!) Well, the night ended and I went home with my flyers, tapes, and an idea. I thought to myself, 'My mom has a record player and records, can I do the same thing?'.
While listening to a Terry Mullins tape one morning, I heard 'the disco call' in one of his house tracks, and I recognized it! It was from a song by Foxy called "Get off" and my mom had the record, so while she was sleeping I snuck into the living room, got the record, listened for that part, and when I heard it I cued it back and forth and played it over and over (I WAS SCRATCHING, WOW!)
Fast forward to around 1998 when I met the first person to teach me how to mix (DJ SANE, thanks man!) For about three hours he showed everything he knew and I soaked it all in. When he left I practiced for hours and hours (my first mix was a jungle blend of "These Boots are Made for Walking").
After about a year of practice I got my first gig at a small warehouse party called "Evolve" with Frankie Bones, Rabbit in the Moon, and DJ MOGLI!!!! I was in! So after traveling around for a couple more years and DJing various house parties and raves ,I got more comfortable with my style and interests. Now it's 2006 and I spin just about any damn thing I want! I might drop some breaks on a Fleetwood Mac song or mix The Cars with hip hop; I can't really classify myself as this or that but I like it HARD and FAST! DNB, ELEKTRO BREAKS, AND HARD TRANCE are my favorite. As of Right now I'm focusing on my true love, DNB AND JUNGLE, and getting more involved with producing my own tracks (be on the lookout for "DEFICIT"!).

D.T.L.
I was introduced the EDM world back in 94 and have been listening to the continually changing sounds of this music for 12 years now. More and more the love of drum and bass and breaks pushed me toward the concept of playing and making my own music. I started out on some numark pro TT2s about 3 years ago spinning breaks. Just recently I have bought 2 new technic 1200mk5s and a cdj to spin the music that we produce also I have ventured into the world of drum and bass in late Nov. of 2005. In Dec. of 2005 I have put together a crew of 4 dj's which includes me, and we are throwing down the dopest and produce the dopest drum and bass and breaks............ Va's Finest dnb and breaks!!!!!!!!!!!!
Va's Finest has been working avidly toward produce N the best drum and bass and breaks in the area......... As in actually making tracks.....(killjoy "oowjho records" and Overload) The whole crew at the current time consists of mike legg "D.T.L."
frank garcia "killjoy", and antonio "Overload". We are looking for serious members that want to get down and spin with us and to show us real support. Me personally I am doing this for the love of the music. I have a demo set up for each member and tag demo set up for the whole crew spin N together. Any that has heard any of our shit know that we are pretty bad ass. If anyone wants to get down, or get demos feel free to hit me up.
