I have a bit of a fascination with the interesting effects that can be created by reflecting and tiling pieces of photographs. You can get some really amazingly unreal visual effects from this kind of flip-and-repeat operation on genuine (non-digitally created) images. A bit of the unreal from the real.

This is actually a bit harder than it looks, as finding the right rotation angles and locations for the best reflection can be time-consuming. Anyone can cut and reflect the image with basic image editing skills, but I think it takes some patience and intuition to figure out the right angle and placement of those lines of reflection to get the most interesting images.

Some of these images, when tiled, create some very interesting and somtimes even moody wallpapers. What do you think? Click the links on the left to see the wallpapers I created in this fashion, on the right.
